The US may not be the first country you think of when you think of solar energy and solar energy panels but there are some cities which have taken it to heart. Here are a small selection of some of the cities which will appeal more to those who have an interest in investing in solar panels for their home.
Austin, Texas. Texas is known for steaks, rodeos and men in suits and stetsons rather than an attitude of being friendly towards the environment. Austin, however, can be partly characterised by its friendliest as its one of the most friendly in the entire country. Customers are entitled to a 60 per cent discount when buying solar panels thanks to the local utility company’s energy deals and rebate programmes. This may be part of the reason why more people buy solar panels here than in any other city in the US. It is also a city suitable for solar panels with the sun shining on close to 300 days of the year.
San Francisco, California. Unlike Texas, California is a state which is known for having an eco-conscious approach. Although, somewhere within the region of 900 homes have solar panels which isn’t a great deal, there are plans underway to greatly improve upon that statistic.
Albuquerque, New Mexico. A law exists in New Mexico which sees the local utility companies forced to pay customers for the energy which they produce. If more is produced than what is spent on electricity, then PNM, the state’s utility company, are legally obliged to send a cheque to the energy producer.
There are a certain amount of states which make generous rebates available to home owners who have solar panels installed in their home. They can also research how many companies sell panels and, of course, an installation service. The more companies there are that do this, the more savings there are to be made. Another important factor is the attitude of the city towards energy programmes. The more positive the attitude, the more advantages there are to be had down the line.
