Creating The Perfect World

Posted by on Sunday, 17 July, 2011

Is it possible to evolve society to an optimal stage? How is this possible if this is? NXIVM, a New York based company founded by Keith Raniere, seems to think this can be done through ethics.

A companion of mine described to me that this company’s mission is to help transform and, ultimately, be an expression of the noble civilization of humans. This mirrored something akin to a perfect world. She affirmed this idea and explained to me that this was the vision of this organization.

Idealists are individuals who all believe in the same perfect world. Idealists want the world to get better and believe that they have the combination to do it. We know that this world can be a better place.

Against the idea are people who think evil and bad things will always prevail in the world who are called realists. Realists believe it is a world of dystopia, or a totalitarian world in which everything is unpleasant, degraded, and bad.

How are things set into place for an idealist? How does an idealist make a change in this society? Do we live in perfect world, or dystopia? Well, I think it depends on who you ask. The world is full of many different people. If individuals can change, then the world can change as well, right?

I have always believed that ideal, but have not had a clear idea as to what it would take to make that ideal reality, and whether it’s even possible. There are various changes that need to be made if we are to ever see a perfect world, what are they? Well, given that a society is composed of a whole bunch of individuals, it makes sense to me that the answer lies within the change of each individual.

If we dig a bit deeper, to the heart of what determines how an individual will act, we come to a person’s ethics. These feelings inside you that tell you if something is wrong or right is you ethical understanding. It stands to reason that if we can develop a enduring sense of ethics within the individuals of our society, ourselves, that we might have the key to utopia. NXIVM truly brings this concept home. It seems they’re pretty focused on the topic of ethics, and how a foundation of ethics could mean a better a world in which people choose to work together and in which violence is a thing of the past. Imagine a world in which people endeavor to create a better experience not only for themselves, but for those around them. While we are not all there yet, I believe we can help each other reach that ideal.
