At Southern Bamboo, all of our bamboo is 100% home-grown in the Southern United States. We’ve combined several bamboo groves to create a network of bamboo growers that produce a wide variety of decorative and timber bamboo poles. All of our bamboo poles are hand-selected and harvested. Once cut into desired lengths, the bamboo poles are then processed using our proprietary processing system. Most timber species of bamboo are kiln-dried to preserve their durability, while decorative bamboo poles are treated and coated with a UV-protectant, which ensures that their beautiful, natural color will endure.
Depending on indoor/outdoor pole placement and the amount of daily direct sunlight poles are exposed to, some people may experience slight color fading over time. Silver rings adorn each node on Vivax, making it a beautiful decorative pole for indoors or outdoors. If kiln-dried, Vivax loses some of its green vibrancy, but turns from a bright green into an dazzling array of colors ranging from purple to hunter green to brown.
Nigra, AKA Black Bamboo, is rare in the USA because it’s hard to grow in the States. Nigra has a silver coating of wax that can be saved if you so desired. But the real magic with Nigra is when you polish it. It then takes on a whole new look and resembles a rich, dark ebony tone that will bring your to your knees.
